Student Resources

Welcome to the SMSA Student Resources Resource Page!

The Library, STREAM Lab and classroom instruction all intersect to help SMSA students become confident seekers and users of information.

Recognising the critical importance — and joy — that a literate life offers, our librarian and STREAM instructor work with students from Noah’s Ark through Grade 8th to expose, excite, encourage, and inspire students through quality print and digital materials, and hands-on projects. We are guided by a core belief in the wonder of our world, and how faith, literature, science and the arts express that wonder.

At the library, students hear stories, learn about the different forms of literature, and learn library skills for 21st Century learning.  They participate in book sharing with peers and librarian led book commercials to expand their reading horizons. SMSA students are consistent winners at the Battle of the Books, an annual area wide reading competition for Grades 3-6.

Students in all grades have the opportunity to apply core subject material to hands-on design projects in the STREAM Lab, where science, technology, religion, reading, engineering, art and math concepts are integrated.

Special individual and classroom projects are showcased at our annual Learning Fair. Learning Fair projects at the elementary level are collaborative projections based on a common theme. Middle School Learning Fair projects are self-selected, reflecting each Middle School student’s growing ownership of their learning. Click here to learn when our next Learning Fair will be held.
