Parent Volunteer Opportunities

SMSA parents are a welcome and vital part of  school life.  Two organizations operate at the school to help us fulfill our mission:  In a joyful Catholic atmosphere we provide students with the ingredients for success:  powerful minds, prayerful hearts and helpful hands.  


SMSA’s Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) exists to provide enrichment opportunities for our students, and community-building events such as the Christmas Craft Fair, Snowball Family Dance, and Teacher Appreciation Days. Officers are elected on an annual basis.

Look for PTSA news on the bulletin board, including information about special PTSA fundraisers that finance our activities, outside the Great Hall. SMSA parents are welcome and encouraged to be part of SMSA’s PTSA!

Meetings are held monthly, one in the daytime, followed by an evening meeting the following day or soon after.  Check the current edition of the Kerry Blue for meeting dates, times and location. Minutes of PTSA meetings can be found here.

PACE, or Parents Active in Catholic Education, is a parent volunteer program under the oversight of SMSA’s Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).  This group is charged with helping the school meet its fundraising goals to help keep tuition as affordable as possible. We have fun with our fundraisers (really!) and appreciate the time parents give to help defray the cost of tuition.

Tuition makes up about ⅔  of what it costs to educate each SMSA student, currently about $8000 per student. PACE activities are critical to the school’s fiscal health.To that end, each SMSA family is asked to provide 20 hours of volunteer service per year, per family, in support of one or more of the school’s fundraising activities. Participation by Noah’s Ark families is appreciated but not mandatory.

News and Information” on the homepage alerts our parents as to upcoming events and fundraisers where PACE hours are needed. A SignUp Genius is sent via SwiftReach to our school families for each event. There, you can view what jobs are needed for the event, and register to help to earn PACE hours.  Once your service is completed, you will need to download the PACE Online Tracking Form and submit this form to the Main Office for our records.

Those who do not wish to volunteer or have no time, may opt to buy out of your service and will be billed $500 on or around January 1st.
