Principal's Letter

Principal's LetterWelcome to St. Mary’s - St. Alphonsus Regional Catholic School where learning is joyful!

Our mission says it all, and attracted me to SMSA from the start: In a joyful Catholic atmosphere, we provide students with the ingredients for success: powerful minds, prayerful hearts and helpful hands.

I love our mission so much! It is mentioned at every meeting and invoked in our prayers, it's the driving force behind every decision at school.

St. Mary’s-St. Alphonsus’ rich history of academic excellence and service dates back over 135 years when the Sisters of St. Joseph responded to the need for a Catholic school among the area’s Irish and French immigrants. The parish built a magnificent school in 1932, where our students continue to work, play, learn and grow academically, emotionally, socially and, most importantly, spiritually.

Our outstanding reputation is based on our educational philosophy and the generosity of many. Dedicated faculty, staff, alumni, parents, friends and benefactors, and the vital financial and spiritual support from our local parishes all help to make our philosophy of educating the whole child a reality.

Enjoy our site, and schedule a tour! We would love to show you around to get a feel for what over 200 local families have decided about enrolling their child(ren) at SMSA: “It was the best decision I’ve ever made!”

You can listen, too, to what our students have to say about their school here.

In His Name,
Patty Balmer
Principal
